New · ZEROTRACE Shield

Shield your ETH, unshield it anywhere

Put ETH in from one wallet, take it out to another with a private note. Nobody can link the two, and the new wallet needs no ETH for gas.

a private note to withdraw anywhere

Proofs are made on your device. The relayer only sees a zero-knowledge proof, never your note.

How Shield works

  1. 1

    Shield

Pick 0.5, 1, 2 or 5 ETH and confirm in your wallet. The deposit is public, like walking into a crowded room.

  2. 2

    Keep your note

Your browser creates a private note, one line of text. It is the only key to the ETH. Copy it or download it.

  3. 3

    Wait a little

The more deposits arrive after yours, the harder it is to tell which one is yours. Patience is privacy.

  4. 4

    Unshield anywhere

Paste the note on any device, pick a fresh address and withdraw. A zero-knowledge proof shows you own one of the deposits without saying which.

What makes it different

  • Instant. Every deposit is approved automatically in seconds. No waiting hours for a review.
  • Nobody can exclude you. The approved set is posted by a contract that can only post "every deposit, in order". Not even ZEROTRACE can leave a deposit out.
  • Nobody can change the rules. Ownership was renounced at launch: no upgrades, no pause, no new fees, ever.
  • Battle-tested cryptography. Built on the audited Privacy Pools contracts, using the same verifiers and trusted-setup ceremony as the 0xbow pools on mainnet.
  • No gas on the new wallet. The ZEROTRACE relayer sends the withdrawal and takes a small fee from it (about 0.25% plus gas). Shielding itself is free.

Honest limits

  • Deposits and withdrawals are public. What stays private is which deposit paid which withdrawal.
  • Privacy grows with the number of deposits. Withdrawing 1 ETH a minute after depositing 1 ETH is easy to pair. Wait, and split amounts.
  • Lose the note and the ETH is gone. Nobody, including us, can recover it. You can always take your own deposit back publicly with the deposit wallet.
  • The pool contracts are audited code, but this deployment and the approval contract are new. Start with small amounts.
